ccpnmr2.5.1 extremely slow on Mac (plus warning)

Hi Team CCPNMR,

I need your assistance in troubleshooting an error (sorry which may be silly! I tried to resolve it before posting here, but in vain :( )

This project was created in ccpnmr2.5.1 on a Linux system. When I try to load the same project using ccpnmr2.5.1 on MacOS BigSur, it not only takes time to load but also displays the following error message.

python[2673:46954] Warning: Expected min height of view: (<NSButton: 0x7f903fe3bbc0>) to be less than or equal to 30 but got a height of 32.000000. This error will be logged once per view in violation.

P.S. I can use the same project on ccpnmr3 on linux and windows seamlessly. I cant use the ccnmr3 on Mac BigSur (due to the obvious issues pointed out in the v3 forum). I have to use on Mac for unavoidable reasons.

our latest 2.5.2 version should work with MacOS Big Sur. You can download from

Hi Chinmayi,

the warning message shouldn`t really be of any particular consequence - it relates to BigSur trying to put things into the TouchBar.

Is your Mac being slow with every project or just with this one? If you Mac has a TouchBar, I assume it is relatively new, so this isn`t likely to be an issue with processing power.

It`s perhaps also worth mentioning that our latest version 3 includes versions which will work with BigSur (including on the new M1 ARM Macs): https://www.ccpn.ac.uk/v3-software/downl...-downloads
So you could try that.

Hi Vicky.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the Mac is new (but not M1). I shall try disabling the Touch bar (which is annoying anyway).

I tried 2 projects. Both of them are slow (not in terms of processing power, you are correct). Particularly, when I try to navigate from 1 window to another, also when I try to zoom or pan the spectra it takes ages.

Thanks for the info on the latest versions. I hadn`t checked the CCPN website in weeks. I installed the 3.0.4 version just now. And loaded my project. Smooth as butter :cool: ! Thanks a ton. I am so happy.
