Mac OS Sequoia

Hi! My university required I update my Mac to Sequoia, which I saw on your downloads page is not yet supported. Currently in this OS, AnalysisAssign (v 3.2.11, fully updated) crashes any time I try to use Assignment Inspector. Do you happen to have any updates on if we will see CCPN working on Sequoia?

Thanks a bunch! (I hope this hasn’t been a repetitive question, but I didn’t see anything on the forum)

Hi,

What kind of crash is it? Any message in terminal? Does it just freeze?

We had various issues reported with Sequoia and we do not seem to be the only ones as there is other scientific software unusable in Sequoia.

We will discuss this as soon as possible.

Sorry about this!

Eliza

Hi Eliza!

No worries at all, I figured that’s the case. And the software just freezes with no errors appearing in the terminal. I’ve let it try to recover for several minutes but it stays frozen and shows my “loading” mouse. For now I am just using Ccpn in NMRbox :) Thanks for looking into this!

Hi again! Accidental update - I let AnalysisAssign sit “frozen” for at least 2 hours and when I came back the Assignment Inspector was working fine. Not sure how long it took in total, but I suppose that’s good news… Maybe it just needs a long time to load now? I hope this helps!

Thank you for the update!

However we do not want users to wait 2h for a module to work!!! So we have to somehow sort this out.

Hi,

one option may be to try and run something like OS Sonoma using a virtual machine on your Mac, e.g. using UTM. We haven’t tried this ourselves yet, but it might be worth a go. Or there is NMRbox.

Vicky

Hi Vicky! I’ve been using NMRbox as needed, I just find virtual machines to be clunky and prefer doing all of my work locally. For now CCPN seems to be working okay on Sequoia, so I will proceed with cautious optimism :)
